As a Gilbert pet sitter, some of my Gilbert pet sitting clients ask me for recommendations regarding behavioral issues with their dogs. The reality is your dog WANTS to please you and do the right thing, but sometimes they need some help to learn, or unlearn these behaviors. I know three exceptional dog trainers and would highly recommend any of them for dog training in Mesa or Gilbert, or elsewhere for that matter.
Each of these dog trainers has their own unique approach to training, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. Here they are in no particular order with contact information:
Dog owner education is a passion of hers, including education on Pit Bulls. She trains her own Pit Bull Mix dog with clicker training to show the public that Pit Bulls do not need “heavy-handed” training. She shares training information and tips on Facebook daily (https://www.facebook.com/
Hazuki is also a Certified Quantum-Touch® Energy Healing Practitioner and is looking forward to adding other methods to incorporate into training such as Aromatherapy, TTouch, and nutrition in the near future.

Sharon Witherspoon – Home Dog Training
Choosing a trainer is one of the most important decisions you will make for your dog. Trainers vary tremendously in their level of education and methods used. Many trainers use outdated training methods stemming from World War II. Yes, these methods may seem to stop the unwanted behavior, but can also result in unexpected consequences such as fear and anxiety. The use of choke chains, prong collars and shock collars (which trainers love to call “ecollars”) are techniques which veterinary behaviorists recommend not be used on your dog. They are unnecessary, antiquated and can result in physical, emotional and mental damage to your dog.
Sharon Witherspoon, Home Dog Training Positively, is certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, the only independent certification group; is a member of the Pet Professional Guild; and is a licensed Victoria Stilwell trainer. As a licensed Victoria Stilwell trainer and a member of Pet Professional Guild, you can be assured that the training done by Home Dog Training Positively is humane, force free, scientific based training resulting in effective results. Sharon also attends conferences and workshops to stay abreast of current studies and techniques in the field of dog training. By choosing Home Dog Training for your pet, you will have a well mannered four legged family member and increase the bond between you and your dog.

Heather Clever – Clever Canines
Heather Clever, owner of Clever Canines LLC, is the best dog trainer because she utilizes positive techniques and works with all types of dogs: smart dogs, hyper dogs, aggressive dogs, big dogs, small dogs, friendly dogs, rescue dogs, and even special needs dogs. Heather’s specialty is aggression in dogs, and she believes that these dogs need compassion and gentle treatment most of all.
Heather also donates her training services to Arizona rescues on a regular basis, focusing on helping “less adoptable” dogs. This experience, coupled with her certification by Animal Behavior College and continuing education through organizations such as the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and Pet Professional Guild, has given her invaluable knowledge and tools for training virtually any canine companion.
